Multiplesourcing

Multiplesourcing

With the advent of outsourcing, organizations have been aware from the beginning that control on suppliers is necessary. Usually these organizations were referred to as Supplier or Demand organization.
With the advent of MultipleSourcings structures, constructions where outsourcers under the guise of ‘best of breed’ use of multiple vendors, has also increased the complexity of the control. Many organizations find that the skills of the demand side fell short and multiple sourcing strategy thus yielded insufficient results. Within the Demand organizations operated mostly employees without specific direction skills or experience. Control took place mainly on the basis of substantive knowledge. There was little or no attention to the demand side and, depending on the personal practical knowledge, attention was given to only a specific part of the service. The consistency was lacking in the selected sourcing strategy and yielded insufficient results. Outsourcers had the choice to return to continue to use a single vendor strategy, or invest in the knowledge and skills of their organization and gain the benefits of the ‘best of breed’ back.
